As a kid i spent many hours lying on my bed and daydreaming while staring at the ceiling. Hang items heavier than 10 lb 4 5 kg from a ceiling joist. Once again you will drill a hole and install the toggle bolt as in the first method. For items lighter than 5 lb 2 3 kg you can use an adhesive hook as an easy alternative.

While this method would give you the most support it is the hardest to get right. Check that the wings on the bolt can move easily along the thread of the bolt so you don t have difficulty installing it. In this method you would drill a hole all the way through your ceiling joist and push your toggle bolts through the joist. Install your bolt in the joist.

If that doesn t convince you that i m qualified to pass on some ceiling advice then i don. If you cannot use a joist to secure the heavy object the next method is to use a toggle bolt. It s the securest place to fasten a hook for heavy items so that you don t risk damaging the ceiling or the item. Keep in mind that these 2 wings will open up above the drywall or plaster distributing the weight of the object over a larger area.
