Transit Connect Side Door Wont Lock

For the 2014 model year the redesigned transit connect photo 2 went to the ford focus 2 track lock system.

Then lock it all up as normal. Try opening the rear door driver side and operate the inside handle. In my case i could have probably unhooked the yellow. This happened on a 10 plate transit last year more than once.

Ford has issued another recall for faulty door latches which can fail to secure a door leading to its possibly coming open while the vehicle is being driven. I had to take out the lock to repair and decided to show whats happening when rotary knob gets stuck. Transit side door wont lock even when button is pressed the sounds all other doors lock ok except the side door take the lock out and have a good look it could have a broken lever inside the lock the electrics are all built into the lock. The recall covers nearly 2 2.

Photo 3 shows a comparison of the tibbe key versus the 2 track key. I assume you still have the manual unlock lock turn knob at the inside back of the door opposite end to the handle if so when you turn it clockwise about an 8th of a turn the mechanism should unlock however if it dosent go round with a sharp click try pulling rattling the door handle as you apply force to the knob and the mechanism may spring into place if your lucky had several successfull openings like this.
